Artsy Fartsy

Apparently this morning is a time for reveling in the beautiful work of the following artists.  With the cloudy skies around here and warm, muggy temps, I'm perfectly content to oogle these brilliantly colored prints and pieces and long for sunny days full of bare feet, tank tops, and sunglasses!

First up is the amazing Samantha Hahn.  She runs a blog called Maquette (which is lovely in itself) that features her daily watercolors/drawings and other musings. She's been featured in Marie Claire and on Real Simple (the holy grail as far as I'm concerned!) and just has a wonderful eye for color and lines.  Her work is creative (duh) and feminine (yay!).  It tends towards fashion and has a great theme of bright colors and interesting compositions. Basically, sign me up and send me a print! I'm including some links to the shops where you can buy her stuff (it's awesome and surprisingly affordable  for such a well-recognized artist!).

Next is the intriguing Yolanda Sanchez.  I could only find her stuff on a gallery website at a ridiculous price (eight thousand bucks, anyone?), but I still love her stuff. What can I say? Millionaire tastes, penny budget. It happens. Anywho, Ms. Sanchez's work is a bit like a refined, more feminine Jackson Pollock. I don't want to get disrespectful, but it looks a bit like finger painting (in a good way!).  Great color combos collide with whatever method she uses to create these eye-catching pieces. I just want to stare at them all day. And would happily do so! All photos from the Markel Gallery's page on Ms. Sanchez

So there you go, you daring artsy peeps! Happy Thursday!
