Some Funnies and Why I'm a Lucky Lady

I have to say that one of the perks of being in college (and going to a fairly recognized one at that) is all of the amazing people who come to our campus.  Not to mention that I have the opportunity to see all of these lovelies for "free" or "only" 10 bucks.  Sometimes it's hilarious to see the fresh-people (we're not supposed to say "FreshMEN") going on about how cheap stuff is. And all I can think is, hey, you're paying at least 15 grand, kids. This stuff is NOT free.  But I digress...

So, anywho. Last night, I had the rare, wonderful, lovely and hilarious chance to go see these guys:

YES. That would be Jason Sudeikis (he is MIGHTY FINE in person) and the HILARIOUS John Lutz (via 30 Rock for you people who live under rocks or lichen or the land of No-Cable). They did about 30 minutes of improv last night (they were amazing).  Not only is Jason a snappy dresser (he looked adorable) and John one of the funniest peeps around, they were also just so nice.

I am definitely in awe of these guys (and the guy who was performing with them who I did not recognize nor could I hear his name. (If anyone remembers, feel free to chime in because he was really great, too!) We also got to hear some stand-up by a writer on SNL who graduated from Chapel Hill. He was good, but it was weird seeing a guy that looks like my dad dropping the F-bomb and talking about things I never want to hear my father say. Another SNL writer did some stand-up, too. He was adorable and younger which made his stuff not only better but also much more enjoyable as I didn't have to hear him talking about sexy things with older women. Ew. (Don't even tell me that I'll be an "older woman" in a bit. I am in denial for the next 15 years or so.)

Anywho, after that, we had the treat of listening to the Australian comedy band Axis of Awesome perform. It was my first comedy band experience and I have to say they were quite good. I would have liked a less canned performance, but they had some chops.  And perhaps best of all they performed their "4 Chords" song. Check it out below**. It's hilarious (apparently that's the Word-of-the-Day around here) and so true.

**Please note that there is an F-bomb dropped at about 4:44 in the vid. So if you've got the chillen' around, cover their ears. Or maybe you're a bad parent and like your children to drop the F-bomb. Just warning you.
